A Warm Modern Home for a Young Family

Location

Marylebone, London

Type

Residential

Year

2026

Size

1,200 sq ft

Designed for a young family of four, B50 brings warmth and character to a new build apartment without altering a single wall. Reeded oak, cork, lime plaster and natural stone replace anonymous finishes, creating interiors with a 1970s sensibility that are tactile, durable and made to age with the family rather than be replaced.

Project B50 Kitchen

The kitchen is conceived as a single wall of oak veneer, anchored by a waterfall island in burgundy veined marble. Turned walnut stools and hand blown glass pendants in smoke and oxblood add sculptural presence to the room's daily rituals.

Project B50 Bedside Table

In the bedroom, hand troweled Venetian plaster in a muted blue rises above a half height reeded oak wainscot, giving the walls a soft, cloudy depth. Cork side tables sit beside a low upholstered bed in dusty blue velvet, bringing a natural, tactile counterpoint.

Project B50 Shelves

The study pairs a walnut clad wall with a composition of rounded cork shelves, harvested from the bark of the cork oak without felling the tree. A sculptural desk with a carved zigzag profile anchors the room, alongside shearling stools and a cognac leather lounge chair.

Project B50 Bathroom Tiles Close Up

The bathroom is the most playful room in the home. Honed pink marble tiles rise to dado height beneath a water colour seashell wallpaper, with brushed brass fittings and a chocolate and cream checkerboard floor completing a space designed to grow with the children.
