Vegan cork leather on a natural textile backing, handmade in Portugal. Soft, durable and naturally water repellent.

Thickness 0.8mm to 1.2mm typical (0.4mm to 2.2mm available, depending on backing)

Product Care

Wipe gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, soaking, and abrasive or solvent based cleaners.

Installation & Application

Works like a fabric. Cut with scissors or a sharp blade, sew on a standard sewing machine, and glue or staple as you would a textile upholstery. It can also be embroidered, heat embossed or digitally printed.

Suited to upholstered chairs and sofas, headboards, cushions, wall panels, and accessories such as bags and notebooks. Tested to over 8,000 cycles on the Taber abrasion test (ASTM D3884).

For upholstered furniture in the UK, ask your upholsterer about a fire barrier or treatment to meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations.

A plant based alternative to animal leather, made from fine slices of cork bark bonded by hand onto a natural textile backing. It feels soft and warm like leather, but it is lighter, naturally water and dirt repellent, and carries the real grain of the cork oak in every metre. A protective top coat adds resistance to scratches, stains and sunlight, with an abrasion result above 8,000 cycles. Choose from natural cork patterns, over 25 hand painted colours, washed and flecked finishes, on organic cotton, hemp, twill or denim backings.

Meet The Maker

CoFlora was founded in the Netherlands by Dana Liv, who came to design through environmental science. She works with rural artisan communities in Portugal, where cork is stripped by hand from the bark of living cork oaks and grows back every nine years without a tree being felled. Trained artisans, many of them women paid fair wages, slice the bark into fine veneers and lay them piece by piece onto a backing. The result is a surface that carries the real grain of the tree, made in a way that keeps cork forests valuable and standing.

Cork is one of the few materials that gives back more than it takes: the bark regrows, the trees stay put, and the forests store carbon while it does. CoFlora turns it into something you can live with every day, soft and warm to the touch, naturally water repellent and quietly sound absorbing. Each roll is cut from real bark rather than printed, so no two are the same, and the glues are water based and free of harmful substances. It is a material we would happily put in our own homes.
