Nebula Collection
Nebula Collection
Design by Matterpieces
Where Matter shows off the big pieces, Nebula works with what's left once they've been sorted: the fine dust of brick, cement and glass. Mixed into the stone, it settles into soft clouds and thin, wandering veins, so the surface reads almost like a marble at a distance and reveals its texture up close.
The colours are deliberately loose. Each one sits slightly apart from the others, which gives the stone movement without making it busy. Pieces vary, so look at a sample next to your other materials before you specify.
Nebula is the stronger and less porous of the two collections, and it's rated A2fl s1 d0 for fire. That makes it a good fit for facades, outdoor paving and kitchen surfaces as well as interior floors and walls. Choose Honed, Satin, Sandy or Bush hammered for outdoor use.
Best for: facades and external cladding, terraces and outdoor floors (textured finishes), kitchen worktops and splashbacks, bathroom walls and floors, living room and hallway floors.

Sustainability
Sustainability
Nebula is made with the fine dust that's usually the hardest part of demolition waste to reuse. Matterpieces sorts brick, cement and glass from demolition sites and turns them into a new raw material instead of sending them to landfill. The stone content is drawn largely from quarry waste. Each colourway lists how much demolition waste it contains, and what type.

Engineered Stone made with soft clouds of colour and fine veins, made from the dust of old buildings.
From the Studio
Patrícia Gomes and Luís Lima are architects, and Matterpieces began with a contradiction. While renovating a vegan restaurant in Vienna, they were searching for sustainable materials as the demolition waste piled up on site. Back in Portugal, they started mixing crushed brick, concrete and glass by hand in a family garage in Porto. Today they turn that rubble into tiles, slabs and worktops, and each colour carries a trace of the buildings it came from.
Why Elken Chose It
Some of the best new materials are already sitting on demolition sites, and Matterpieces proves it. Rather than quarrying new stone, they take crushed brick, concrete and glass that would have gone to landfill and turn it into dense, hard wearing tiles and worktops. Each colour comes with a lab breakdown of what's in it, so you know exactly where your floor came from. One building's rubble becomes the next one's floor, which is about as circular as design gets. On projects over 300m², they'll make a surface from your own building's waste.
