Rescued Leather Artwork
Rescued Leather Artwork
Leather takes a great deal of land, water and energy to produce, so good pieces of it shouldn’t be thrown away. Elvis & Kresse take leather that would otherwise be wasted and give it a second, very visible life on your wall. No new hides are used, and because the palette depends on what they rescue, no two artworks will ever match. Half the profits from their rescued leather go to Barefoot College International, which trains women as solar engineers. It’s a piece of art that did some good before it ever reached your wall.

Details
A bespoke artwork made from leather rescued before it could go to waste. Elvis & Kresse cut each piece by hand and build it into a modular system, so the artwork can be made to almost any size, from a single panel above a bed to a full wall. Colour is set by what they rescue, which means every commission is a true original. You work with their studio on scale, pattern and palette, and they have made pieces for homes, offices, hotels and Villa Mundi, a space established by the World Economic Forum.

Pattern, texture and a past life define a wall piece made from leather that was destined for landfill.
From the Studio
Established in 2005, Elvis & Kresse's journey began with a mission to rescue London's decommissioned fire-hose, transforming discarded materials destined for landfill into exquisitely crafted accessories and homeware. Today, their highly skilled artisans harness the beauty of 15 different reclaimed materials to create sustainable luxury. With charitable partnerships spanning industries, 50% of profits from their fire hose range support The Fire Fighters Charity, while contributions from rescued leather pieces aid Barefoot College International. In 2021, they embarked on a pioneering regenerative agriculture project, embodying their commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation.
Why Elken Chose It
Fire hose is built to survive heat, pressure and years of hard use, which is exactly why it shouldn’t end up in landfill. Elvis & Kresse have been rescuing it from London’s fire stations since 2005, and now work with 14 other reclaimed materials, from rescued leather to retired parachutes. Everything is made by hand in their own two workshops, never outsourced. The giving is just as considered: half the profits from the fire hose range go to The Fire Fighters Charity, and rescued leather funds Barefoot College International. Here, luxury means knowing a piece’s whole history.
